This release is largely about updates to the Writer SDK, which now includes hooks for pre- and post-publish events. These updates are still experimental and these APIs are not stable–we may make changes based on your feedback that break plug-ins that use these new methods. However, we’re really excited about the new set of scenarios have been unlocked and look forward to hearing feedback from all of you Writer plug-in developers out there.

Just like any other paradigm, a level of new knowledge and experience is required. Unfortunately, SOA requires lots of new knowledge and experience. It requires a different way of thinking of more or less everyone involved. There should be awareness that there is lack of knowledge, experience and attitude and something should be done about this first. There is no real solution, except for the obvious one: educate everyone involved. Also, agile methodologies have proven to be effective in building up knowledge and experience.

First post to the ‘geekswithblogs’ home… just looking for a way to shunt my current wordpress stuff over here (converting their own ‘WordpressML’ to BlogML) then we’ll be cooking with gas…
I’ve found some tools for doing it, so hopefully I can get that working and see where we end up! May even write about that experience.. The world (as they say) is my oyster!

As I have previously written, I have recently been spending some time experimenting with various aspects of Scala, including some of the frameworks which have become available. One of the frameworks I have had the privilege of using is the somewhat unassumingly-titled Specs, and implementation of the behavior-driven development methodology in Scala.
Specs takes full advantage of Scala’s flexible syntax, offering a very natural format for structuring tests.

These days, we are deluged with data, and as a result we’re confusing noise with information, and information with useful information. But what many companies fail to realize is that what matters is what you do with that data — and as a result, they are missing out on a tremendous opportunity.
Yesterday was one of those days when I was dragging my feet, mostly because I stayed up way past my bedtime for the launch of NewTeeVee Station and then woke up at my usual time — before sunrise. The foggy state of my brain reinforced how necessary sleep is for connecting the dots and being productive.
With the sun shining brightly, a walk along the Embarcadero to the office seemed like the perfect antidote. As Celine Roque writes on WebWorkerDaily, “Being exposed to ... Read More

MySql Lite Administrator is a php web application that will help you insert and update stuff in your MySQL Database. MySql is probably the most used database for web application. There are many web tools that interact with MySQL, PHPMyAdmin is a great example. But the problem is they are very complex for non expert user. That is why I decided to create user friendly web application for basic management of MySQL.

Today at Graphing Social Patterns, executives from hi5, AOL, MySpace and imeem provided updates on their OpenSocial platform usage. Patrick Chanezon from Google opened by explaining that Chinese service OpenPNE out of China and StudiVZ out of Germany are the two newest OpenSocial providers. He also shared some updated stats:
– 19 days in production
– 275 million users
– 66 million installs
– 2,000 applications built on OpenSocial
– 20,000 developers
– 10 million daily app users
AOL
The AOL OpenSocial discussion was brief as the panel was almost out of time but the discussion focused on the third-party and advertising aspects.
imeem
imeem focused on music and showed off some basic OpenSocial goodies you could build on imeem. Apparently you can access the entire music library on imeem using OpenSocial.
MySpace
MySpace came out of the gate boasting how large they are and noted they are twice as large as the nearest competitor (without naming Facebook). The pitch was simple, "want to reach the largest OpenSocial community? Build on MySpace." Staggering stat: 12% of all Internet minutes are spent on MySpace! The MySpace guy wouldn’t answer my question about the costs associated with being a "featured app" - said something about being a developer and not a business guy. I don’t buy it for a minute mister!
hi5
For some reason, the hi5 guy decided to open by putting on a gray shirt - he said that all business people wear blue shirts and khaki pants (luckily he didn’t take his pants off!) - the stunt didn’t seem to get much of a reaction from the audience. It felt like hi5 was the little engine that could from his presentation. They do have very strong adoption of the OpenSocial apps by their community.

VSTS2008 has, on occasion, lost it’s source control settings - specifically, the bindings to TFS server for a given solution and it’s projects.
This seems to be because the solution and project files are not being updated when you use the TFS Source Control Explorer to do a ‘Get Latest’ - a ‘feature’ of VS2008 which allows you to work disconnected/offline - however it seems to have an issue trying to reconnect itself.
To resolve we simply removed the local source directory and did a ‘Get Specific Version - get latest’.
RickSW had a similar experience.
